About Us

Text resizer:

We are a non-profit voluntary support group. Our group was established by parents of children with ADHD/ADD, associated conditions and Special Needs.

ADHD is a socially isolating condition for the child and all family members.  The core behaviours associated with ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, but these children are also socially clumsy, unaccepted by peers, disorganised and have poor short term memory.

Many children with ADHD have comorbid conditions. Comorbid refers to associated problems which are not caused by ADHD but coexist in over half of the children who have ADHD, e.g. Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Autism.  Children often find it difficult to interact with peers, lose friends and find social situations a challenge which can make school life particularly problematic.

The aim of the group is to provide help and support to anyone affected by ADHD/ADD and associated conditions. We are NOT experts, just families that have come together to support each other. You do not have to have a confirmed diagnosis and this is NOT something we can help with, but we can listen and share our experiences of the condition and the 'Special Needs Process'.

Working Together to Build a Better Future

The group is predominantly led by parents, and members are entitled to do as little or as much as they would like. Confidentiality is paramount so parents can share their problems. This is sometimes half the battle. Being understood is the other. We also encourage you to tell us what you feel is missing within your support network. The possibilities are endless.
